About the Artist
Fascination with garden artwork started to grow early in Barbara Sanderson’s life. As a child she was captivated by gardens and parks in her native London, Ontario. And when, at the age of seven, she visited the Corning Museum of Glass, another passion took shape – that of glass blowing.

Years later Sanderson, now of Bothell, WA, started to master and perfect both arts. She began beautifying existing gardens in the greater Northwest area with an array of unique, nature-inspired glass sculptures, lights, fountains, and pond decors that she painstakingly created from colored glass. She opened her glass production studio in 2003 and sold her glass pieces through her business Glass Gardens NW. She sold her business in 2016 and now can be commissioned to create custom glass sculptures for private gardens. She now devotes more time to creating one of a kind glass sculptures.

A graduate of University of Western Ontario, as well as Western Kentucky University, where she earned her Master of Arts degree, Sanderson honed her glass blowing skills at Seattle's renowned Pilchuk Glass School and Pratt Fine Arts Center among other institutions.
